AKC Appoints New Field Representatives to Retriever Program

The following is a press release from the American Kennel Club:

March 09, 2019

The Performance Events Department is pleased to announce the addition of 3 new field representatives to the Retriever Program.  Kevin Bunnell, Trish Jagoda and Greg Lister will join existing reps, Jerry Mann and Joe Reinhardt covering field events.  They will each report to AKC Field Director, Russ Reavis.  The AKC Performance Events Department welcomes our newest members and is excited about having this knowledgeable team representing AKC in the field.

Kevin acquired his first Lab in 1991 and by 1993 he was training and handling dogs in hunt tests.  He has been judging 23 years during which time he completed 50 master assignments including the 2007 Master National.  He has had the great fortune of finishing 11 dogs at the master level, of which 3 earned their MNH titles.  He is also the founder of the Umpqua Valley Retriever Club and has served on the Master National Retriever Club Board of Directors for the past 11 years where he served as President in 2018.  Kevin resides in Oregon with his wife, Pam. They have two sons, five granddaughters and 4 black Labs.  “This game has given me opportunities to meet many friends across the nation that enjoy the same passion that I do. I am pleased to represent AKC as a contractor field representative for the sport I love,” says Kevin.

Trish acquired her first lab in 1981 and has never been without one since.  She is the founder of Silverbrook Kennels in Virginia where she has bred, handled and trained 22 dogs to the master hunter level, all of which earned their respective Master National plates.  Trish has always been fascinated by the training aspect and the understanding of how to best communicate with dogs.  This passion led her to the development of Silverbrook Kennels where she utilized her own successful training methods.  She prides herself on always providing dogs the best care and helping others and their dogs achieve their full potential.  Trish states, “I’ve seen a lot in my many years in this sport.  I love it and will keep working for the sport, the dogs and the people that make it what it is today.”

Greg ran his first AKC licensed trial in 1971 and has been hooked ever since.  Being an avid hunter and successful field trialer, Greg decided to combine both passions and become a professional trainer.  After 41 years of success and finishing numerous field champions, in 2012 he decided to retire.  Greg has been a past member of the Mississippi Valley Retriever Club, North Dakota Retriever Club, and is a current member of the Lincoln Trail Retriever Club.  Greg lives in Missouri with his wife, Sue where they breed Golden and Labrador Retrievers.  When Greg is not busy covering AKC events, or taking care of his dogs, he can be found helping Sue run their boarding kennel.  “What a wonderful life! I got to stand next to some very good dogs and some not so good.  They all taught me something.  I am looking forward to supporting and helping all in the retriever community,” says Greg.
