Longtime MNRC handler, Bob Meyer Dies

We are saddened to report that longtime Master National handler and supporter, Robert Bob (Dusty) Meyer has died. Bob passed away on August 26, 2020, after years of battling with Alzheimer’s. He was 83 years old.

A resident of Chesterland, Ohio Bob served on the Board of Directors of the Master National Retriever Club.

2009 MNRC President Bill Teague remembers Bob as a “wonderful man, a visionary, a hard worker, a family man and he loved Judy and his dogs.” Bob’s wife Judy always ran the sound truck at a flight and if historians are correct, started the process of putting holding blinds beside the pick up so she could go to the bathroom without missing any of the sound truck responsibilities. They were quite a couple, Teague recalls.

2015 Master National President Samuel Ferguson remembers in the early days of the MNRC, Bob was the guy who drove the Master National trailer from event to event.

He was a member of the Weslaco Sportsmen’s Club where he did trap and pistol shooting, and enjoyed hunting and training his dogs for the AKC Retriever tests. Bob was married to the love of his life Judith for 63 years.

Bob is survived by his children, his  grandchildren and his great grandchildren. Bob’s request is if you attend his calling hours that you do not get dressed up. He wants everyone in jeans or hunting clothes as that is who he was!

On behalf of the Master National Retriever Club we send our sincere condolences to his family and friends on their loss of a fine gentl man.
